We Went To The Fair

Yesterday we checked out the Orange County Fair.

We played games, we rode rides, we saw baby goats, we tried a deep fried Reese's- it was a GOOD time.

Here are some photos I took.

We've had a great few days down here visiting my family. Today we make a six hour drive to June Lake to visit my husband. He's been working out there for a long time and we are dying to see him. Wish us luck on the drive. It's the furthest we've ever driven just me and James.

Meet Prefresh

Since this is a fashion for littles blog, I thought it only right that I start a time to time feature where I will introduce you to shops and brands I'm totally digging. Basically a hey, you should meet this brand post! I will just quickly sum up what they are all about and of course give you some peeks at their rad clothes. These will NOT be sponsored posts. Just  places I hand pick and genuinely love.

So today to kick things off I want to share a new brand I discovered with you guys. They are called Prefresh and they are RAD. I love finding new gem shops like PreFresh.

This is in no way a sponsored post. I just genuinely fell HARD for this brand and I want to buy everything on their site. James has two of their tees so far and I'm itching to buy him ten more.

The tees run for $36 each. This shop is run by AMAZING people and everything is made in the USA. I'm all about supporting places like this whenever I can. Their clothes are unique and one of a kind and exactly the kind of cool tees that I want my James to wear.

I have high standards of what I will put my little man in and Prefresh passes with flying colors.

Here are my top picks-

Prefresh is releasing their new fall line in August and I know it's going to be so awesome. I can't wait to see it!

Thanks for letting me share. Now go check them out!

You can shop Prefresh here.

Hello Monday, Hello James

Hello Monday, I'm happy to see you.

I'm not going to lie, this past week was a little rough. My husband is working six hours away and it has been really lonely without him. To make things even worse he still has two more weeks out there and I am dying to see him. He works day in and day out or otherwise James and I would be up there staying with him. Oh ya and James and I both came down with colds on Friday so we spent the long weekend watching every Disney movie ever made and cuddling. Boring but just what the Doctor ordered. Happy to report we are feeling better now.

So this past week I tried my best to keep James and I busy minus our three day sick stint at the end. We hung out with friends daily and my friends from out of town even came up for a visit.

Today I am saying hello to driving down to visit my family. I wasn't planning on seeing them until mid August but we are really lonely and need a few days with family to cheer us up.

Hello family. Hello to cheering up. Hello to looking on the bright side.

Hello to making the most of things- even if your husband is gone and you miss him like crazy. There's always something to be happy about and always fun to be had.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

This bible verse has always been a favorite. It's so important to be thankful in ALL circumstances. It's easy to be thankful when things are going your way but not so easy when you're having a rough week. God is always with us, good times or bad. Keep giving thanks. That verse was key for me this week.

Hello to spending our days surrounded by inflatable jumpers. It's indoors, air conditioned, and cheap. James runs wild for hours on end and secretly I really love jumping in them too.

Hello to tassels upon tassels. You guys, get on this trend.

Hello to stopping to see the choo choo train every time your mom goes shopping at the mall.

Hello to spending time and enjoying some fruit with your bestie. Even two year olds need besties. James' besties name is Levi. He's a cutie.

Hello to hot summer days. Hello to long afternoons spent in your friends backyard drinking lemonade and chatting while the kids enjoy the pool.

Hello to trying to make your cupcakes look as cool as Sprinkles.

Hello to a random surprise visit from two of your long time friends who happen to be passing through your neck of the woods while driving home from vacation.

Hello to hanging naked.

Hello to really good naps.

Hello to dress up days. I aim to say yes as often as I can with James so when he asks to wear his Peter Pan hat, spy glass, and sword on our morning errands, I let him.

Hello to my favorite view. A happy, swimming kid, feet up, sunshine, good times.

Hello to cuddles and movies when you're feeling under the weather and HELLO to feeling better.

What are you saying hello to? How was your weekend? What's in store for you this week?

Let's Talk: Campus Book Rentals

Today I wanted to share a gem with you guys. CampusBookRentals.com

I'm really wishing that I had known about these guys while I was in college because the whole concept is genius. In a nutshell, you're renting your books instead of buying them.

Here are some perks to renting-

-save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways
-can highlight in the textbooks
-flexible renting periods
-a donation is made to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
-largest selection in the nation
-live customer support

And now Campus Book Rentals has just launched RentBack.com RentBack is a new initiative that allows students to rent the textbooks they own to other students which is awesome because it makes them 2-4x more money compared to what they'd make through buyback options like selling their books back to the student bookstores.

How cool is that?

Both sites are really easy to navigate, full of helpful info on the FAQ pages, and there is a team prepared to give you excellent customer service if that isn't enough.

On top of ALL THAT- Campus Book Rentals is partners with Operation Smile an amazing and very worthy cause that heals children's smiles. They specialize in  medical care for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

As one of the most prominent charities for children in the world, they work in over 60 countries to heal children’s smiles and bring hope for a better future.

I don't know about you, but I'm sold.
My sister is headed to college this fall and I've already told her all about Campus Book Rentals and she is so excited. College students don't always have the most money and this is a great alternative to help you save big! If you are currently in college, or know anyone who is, make sure to pass this info along and get everyone in the know! You'll all save big bucks, choose from the widest selection of books ever, all while giving back to those in need.

Aviator Nation And Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

Have you guys heard of Aviator Nation? It was started by Paige Mycoskie, sister to Blake, the founder of TOMS shoes.. Both of whom were on The Amazing Race, a show we LOVE.

Everything is handmade in the USA right there. Rad to the bone.

They have a store in Venice and a store in Manhattan Beach.

While I was down south staying with my family recently we checked out the Venice Beach location one day recently and then proceeded to drive to the Manhattan Beach location the very next day. We're crazy.

I seriously wanted everything in the stores. The kids stuff is TO. DIE. FOR. Here is a peek-

I bought James a crazy amount of stuff- tees, tanks, sweatshirts, and hoodies. I also got a tee for me and a tee for my husband. Truth be told, I wanted every single thing in there but the price tags are really high. (A kids tee = $35, Adult tee = $70... Kids hoodies and sweat shirts start at $100 and I didn't even LOOK at the adult hoodies...) I am really excited to take some photos of James in everything. He is going to be mega styling.

Everything there has a vintage feel.. They even make everything on vintage machines so it's legit and each piece is one of a kind.

I preferred the Manhattan Beach location in case anyone cares to make the journey out there. It was way bigger, the manager was awesome, and it was so quiet and mellow and made shopping a breeze.

Anyway...

I had mega plans to take cute photos of James in back of the Venice shop because the building makes for the perfect photo ops but he was asleep in the stroller the whole time. (He was also asleep in the stroller the entire time at the manhattan store.. Go figure.)

I really couldn't let a good photo op pass me up though so today I am stepping in for James. It's totally outside my comfort zone to get in front of the camera.

I love fashion. I love clothes. I shop every single day. But modeling is not yet on my résumé so this will not become a regular thing.

Please give me some props for filling in James' big shoes! My sister helped to fill in too.

So that's a wrap folks! If you ever find yourself around Los Angeles, you definitely want to fit in a trip to Aviator Nation in your schedule. It's an awesome place to stop in even if you don't buy anything and each purchase comes in the cutest bag with free stickers and cozies.

Ahoy Matey

Yo ho, sea lovers!

Today I have a LOT of photos to share with you.

I found a pirate park for James! Like a legit pirate park complete with a pirate ship, bridges, treasure, and skull rock. It was basically heaven on earth for James. It also made for the PERFECT place for pictures.

Take a look-

Pirate Rule # 1 - be prepared. Always bring your spy glass from home.

How perfect is this park? God bless people who create things like this with children like mine in mind! And check out James' outfit. I've been buying him a lot of new clothes recently so you'll be seeing some fresh trendy threads.  This outfit is basically the perfect trifecta because there is a piece from each of my three favorite places. These new Thief and Bandit leggings were custom designed for James and are my favorite to date and I think the shiny copper moccs from Freshly Picked are the best color we own so far. Hello Apparel is always a favorite of mine and this tank is one of their bests.

I love taking this boy exploring. It's so important to me to get James out of the house everyday doing new things. Regardless of what it is, I like to let him explore and adventure and I think it's important that I make sure he has fun every single day.
