Daily Adventure: Part 3

Happy Sunday everyone! This is the day that The Lord has made- let us rejoice and be glad in it!

We woke up early today and made cinnamon rolls while we streamed Mars Hill on TV.

Around lunch time we packed up a picnic and headed out to the river. I previously posted about a trip to the Kern River with my boys and Derek has been wanting to go back. What better time then while my sister is here in town! Plus James is such a little fish and loves being in the water all day long.

I never get too many pictures while we're by any water because I'm afraid for my phone but here are a couple I managed to take-

It was 110 degrees today. It's brutal. The river was the perfect place to stay cool and escape the heat. As soon as we were done swimming we headed back to our air condition and watched Thor. My sister had never seen it and hello, two words- Hemsworth Brothers.

Hope you all had a great weekend like we did-- my sister is here for two more days so that means two more adventures to share with you.

Daily Adventure: Part 2

Today we took my sister to Incredible John's. It's basically Chuck-E-Cheese 2.0. Better rides, better games, amazing food (none of which is on my healthy eating list but it's ok to cheat every now and then right?!), just better everything.

Derek and I always take James here when it's too hot for the playground or when we want an easy place to have fun for a few hours. My sister had never been so why not?

Here are a few shots I took today-

Of course our day wouldn't be complete with out a swimming session and some movies. This time it was The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Flypaper. I'd give both two thumbs up! I LOVE anything Steve Carell.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend and stop by tomorrow to see what we're up to!

Daily Adventure: Part 1

My sister is up in Bakersfield with us for five days so I thought it would be fun to take a break from "regular posting" and instead, share a daily adventure with you of what we did each day. While there isn't a WHOLE lot to do up here, I am going to try to take my sister somewhere fun each day, somewhere that James will enjoy, too. This could be a challenge!

So today will be part one of five.

Here's what we did--

Our first stop was back to the farm. I honestly just love it there and I'm obsessed with those dang donut peaches- I needed more. We picked fruit (donut peaches and crimson heart pluots) and jumped on the ginormous jump pillow for a good couple hours and then hit the petting zoo.

We came back to the house, watched The Rain Maker with Matt Damon (loved it), and hit the pool because its brutally hot.

We ordered Thai Food in for dinner-

Pad thai tofu is my most favorite treat in the world.

Then my sister and I made sugar cookies and called it a night.

All in all a really great day! My husband has the weekend off so we're ready to show Paige a fab time! Check back tomorrow to read part 2 and another daily adventure.

Easy Recipe Alert: Crock Pot Salsa Taco Chicken

So I don't know about you, but every year when summer rolls around, I would much rather be out by the pool vs cooking and having the hot oven on all day.

That's why I turn to my crock pot time and time again.

I basically just made this up and threw everything together. I don't eat meat so I couldn't test it out but my husband swears it's amazing so I wanted to share with you all today!

Ingredients-

Chicken breasts
1 can of- black beans, corn, green chilis, and hot salsa
1 package of shredded cheddar cheese
1 pack of taco seasoning
Half a can of enchilada sauce

Directions-

Put the chicken breasts on the bottom of your crock pot and dust with salt and pepper if you want.

Dump everything on top of the chicken except the cheese.

Pour cheese on top.

Mix everything together, cover the crock pot, and cook on high for about 8 hours.

After everything is all cooked the chicken should easily just pull apart with two forks. You want it all nice and shredded.

I decided to make a side of Spanish rice and I grabbed some tortillas so my husband could make burritos with my crock pot goodness. It would be really good all on its own though, too. You can do a lot with this!

Happy crock potting and let me know if you end up making this! I love hearing how people enjoy the recipes I post!

We have had an amazing two weeks down visiting my family and now today my sister is coming back up with us to Bakersfield for a week and I'm so excited. I have so many fun things planned for us to do and I thought it would be fun to share a daily adventure with you guys so that's what I have planned for the blog until next week on the 4th when we will be coming back down to bring Paige down south and spend the 4th and my moms birthday with my fam.

Come back for daily adventures starting tomorrow!

Farm Fun

We recently went to a local family farm for the day and had a blast!

We had gone once before last October right before Halloween to pick pumpkins and I've been wanting to go back ever since.

This place is great. They have huge bounce "pillows", hay rides, games, a petting zoo, tons of wide open space for kids to run wild, fruit shooters (my husband loved this obviously), fields upon fields for fruit picking, and a big barn full of fruits to sample along with other goodies for purchase.

^^ I did my best to dress James farm appropriate.

^^ I bet the fruit shooters are very popular with the men.. I mean boys :)

^^ Pulling my baby boy to go get some fruit.

^^ Picking blackberries with daddy.

^^ James wasted no time shoveling his pickings into his mouth.

Besides blackberries we also took home raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, pluots (a plum and apricot mix that I had never heard of but were amazing), and DOUGHNUT PEACHES. Have you guys ever heard of them?! Well I hadn't and they are the best fruit I have ever had in my life no joke.

It was all around the best day ever. I just love doing special things like this. These are memories I will cherish forever.

Outfit Details-

I'm wearing a Free People tee (I have every color, they are amazing) and James is wearing a striped pocket tee and overalls from Zara.

That Time James Dressed Himself

I don't even know where this hat came from. I don't know who's it is. James found it hidden somewhere at my parents house and he has since claimed it as his own. It's about ten sizes too big and is kind of ridiculous but he loves it and chooses to dress himself in it every chance he gets.

^^ Gotta lift up the hat lid to check out the ladies!!

Also worth noting- James is getting so good at posing for me!! He ran up to this wall, turned to face me and yelled CHEEESSSEEE!! He even did some different poses as you can see.

This kid was born to show off and stand out! I love him.

Outfit Details-

Shorts- Hello Apparel

Moccasins- Freshly Picked

Remember how I said I was going on The Price Is Right? Well let's just say you are DEFINITELY going to want to tune in on September 24th because... I will be on TV.

That's all I'm allowed to say. I will remind you all in two months to tune in and do a full recap then!

A Fun Adventure

On Saturday James and I had a fun adventure with my sister in Orange County. We started off at Disneyland where we had beignets for breakfast.

We checked out some water fountains and walked all around Downtown Disney.

James even got to build his very first build a bear and chose a pirate bear. Of course.

Next, we headed to Newport Beach where we went shopping at Fashion Island and then finished off our day with Sprinkles cupcakes and Sprinkles Ice cream. We were first timers to both.

^^ James just wanted a side of gummy bears. He was thrilled. He even ate them with a spoon.

^^ My sister with her sea salt caramel ice cream and red velvet cone.

^^ Red velvet ice cream. Oh. My. Gahhhh. Definitely the best thing I've ever eaten in my whole life. To die for.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope your week is off to a great start!
