Clek Foonf

This post is a review of the Clek Foonf. You can check out their website here.

What a name, right? I realize that those of you without kids probably have no interest in this post, and that's ok.

We just recently purchased this car seat and I wanted to do a quick review of it for anyone in the market.

Taking our car seat in and out of my car anytime it needed to be moved to my husbands car or my moms car was getting really old so we decided we wanted to get a new car seat to permanently stay in my car so that James' old car seat could be the rotator one.

First off- this is basically the Mack Daddy of all car seats. It retails for just under $500. While that's obviously just plain out of some people's budget, if you don't have a budget and want the best of the best- then this car seat is for you!

The Foonf allows you to rear face your child until they are 50 pounds which is the first thing that drew me to this. If you don't already know, rear facing is the safest way for your child to ride so if I can extend that for James, I want to.

^^ Here the Foonf is shown rear facing. You can see that it is connected to the base and the rear facing anti rebound bar is attached as well. I will talk more on that bar.

You can forward face in this seat until your child is 60 pounds. Pretty awesome!

Installation of this bad boy was pretty easy. I will mention though, that this sucker is HEAVY. This is not a car seat that you're going to want to be moving all the time hence why I said this will be my cars PERMANENT seat.

The only part that I found difficult was attaching the rear facing anti rebound bar. I looked up a video on YouTube that basically said the easiest way to do it was to "jam it in" and although I may have a bruise on my hand later, I got that thing in!

^^ Importance of the anti rebound bar.

Once the car seat is on the base and you've attached the bar and all that jazz, you're ready for car installation and it's super easy!

You have the option of using LATCH or your seat belt for rear facing and I used the seat belt. I think it took me a total of 10 minutes which is really fast for putting in a new car seat all by yourself!

Once James is forward facing, installation will take all of two seconds. All you do for forward facing is use the rigid LATCH system. It literally just pops right in your car. Another thing I loved about this before I bought.

^^ Above you can see the rigid LATCH I'm talking about. You literally just click those two clips into your cars latches and you're done!! I LOVE THAT!!

I LOVE the way the car seat LOOKS. I'm very fashion minded about everything. If it looks good, I want it. This car seat just looks awesome. It's so clean and classic and modern and almost has a spacey look to it that I really dig. We chose the blue moon foonf but I also love the green dragon fly color. Both of those color choices come with an amazing fabric that virtually will not stain or get dirty. Crypton Super Fabrics are also very comfortable and almost mold to your child, giving them the most comfortable ride ever.

A few other things worth mentioning-

-There are three easy recline positions.

-This car seat is approved to use on air crafts. But I probably wouldn't do that because like I said- HEAVY.

-You can fit three Foonf's side by side by side in your back seat so this is a great option if you have multiples or are planning to have three kids. Lots of car seats are too big and bulky and don't allow you to fit three side by side.

^^ Three Foonf's in a row.

-This car seat is large and in charge, but not. It seems large because your child will be sitting higher than normal. It's not because its actually thin.

-The instructions are amazing. Very clear and easy to understand.

Who is this car seat for?

This car seat is for the fashionable parent. If safety and rear facing for as long as possible is important to you, than this car seat is for you. If you need a permanent car seat that will stay put in your car, get this. If you are not the most handy at installation and you need something simple, BUY THIS!

This is NOT for someone who needs to lug a car seat in and out of their car on the regular. It's just too heavy.

What I like most about the Foonf-

I love that I was able to install this bad boy myself without any help. The instructions were very easy to understand. Our old car seat was a pain in the neck and so hard to get in and out of my car. I was constantly struggling with it and I hated that. I wanted a new car seat that would allow me the ease of installing it myself and the comfort in knowing I did it correctly and safely.

The installation of this could not be easier.

I love how long I can rear face James in it and I love that once he is forward facing I can use the rigid LATCH system which is known as the easiest way to install a car seat ever. I like easy!

I love the way this car seat looks. It just LOOKS cool and that's what I want in a car seat. I think all baby gear should be hip.

If you're in the market for a new car seat and have been thinking about the Foonf, I hope this review has helped you! Please feel free to leave any questions below in a comment and I will do my best to answer them!!

A few photos of ours-

^^ Our foonf attached by seat belt method and rear facing.

^^ James testing out the new car seat for the first time. Disclaimer: Make sure that when you strap your child in the clip is at ARMPIT level. This was mearly a photo taken of James sitting in it, not while driving. When we drive I make sure the clip is on properly.

^^ proper usage of clips. I swear this kid thinks the car seat is the most comfortable thing in the world. He passes out in it instantly.

Thanks for letting me car seat geek out today and if you're sold on the Foonf, I recommend buying from Albee Baby.

  1. There are soooo many baby products to choose from, and a car seat is obviously a super important one! I feel like I will be super overwhelmed once I reach this point in my life...

    1. You're right, it can be so overwhelming. Feel free to let me know what you're looking for when it's "that time" and I can help you out. Trust me, with having a kid and working for baby gizmo, I know all about the best that's on the market.

When we got our stroller we spent hours upon hours looking at reviews and watching videos on YouTube. A stroller is like $600 and car seats are almost as expensive for the best of the best so I wanted to be completely informed!!!

  2. I wanted to get this car seat when I was pregnant but that price tag was just too much for us :( I love the Paul Frank one.

    1. I'm not really into pail frank, but that one is still cute... More money too though.. And I like the classics!

We didn't have ANY money when James was first born so we never could have afforded it.. Now I'm blessed to be able to get the best of the best and I can't rave enough about it!

If you're ever able, I highly recommend!!

  4. It looks closer to purple than blue in some of the pictures. Is it just a funny flash or is it actually purpleish?
